Flowers are a beautiful gift for a special occasion or anytime. They show vibrance and beauty while still being delicate and romantic. These blossoms of glory canbe found all over the world and in every color imagineable. You can find any flower cut in he stores ready in a beautiful arrangement or standing alone to bring home for yourself or a loved one.

Flowers are a great way to say you care and a potted flower that can be cared for in the home or planted is a great way to keep that reminder around for years to come. Some potted plants grow into large trees or shrubs and can be grown outside with the proper care. Other more delicate flowers like orchids can be cared for in the home and boast some of the most beautiful blossoms on earth. For whatever occasion, or none at all, this is a great way to go.

The lotus flower is a wonderful and beautiful flower. Deeply rooted in myths and stories from the ancient east, the lotus flower is a wonderful example of a deeply symbolically rooted plant. This plant is thought to be mystical by the Buddhists. This annual flower is soft and aromatic. In its shades of white, cream, pink, maroon, and even light purple or mauve this flower is always stunning.

Lotus flowers are rare in the united states. They are not a native species and are a floating water flower. If you have a water feature and would like to add this exotic flower to it you can order them online. Buying within the country will ensure you are not breaking any laws when it comes to the shipping and sale of out of country plant species. Owning a wild collected out of country plant species can be dangerous to the environment and can have serious legal consequences.

The scientific name of carnations is dianthus caryophyllus. It is a type of flower very frequently used by florists for arrangements, representing beauty and pride. Carnations blooms are prolific, having as much as 40 petals in a stem. It comes in a variety of vibrant as well as soft-hued colors and is commercially grown in most parts of the world.

Growing carnations require daily sunlight and have to be well watered. They may grow to as high as 18 inches and when picked and placed in a vase, last very long with just regular care.
In floral arrangements for different occasions, the wide variety or colors available make it the flower of choice for most florists around the globe. From burgundies, to pinks to yellow and whites, carnations are lovely in form used alone or in combination with other types of flowers.

Eastern Asia is the region where Hydrangeas are from. These flowers are also known by the name Hortensia. These types of flowers grow in shrubs or bushes, most of them standing between two to three feet in height. Hydrangeas come in different colors such as blue, white, pink, red and purple.

The Hydrangea’s flowers grow in clumps with numerous little florets blooming from it. It resembles a broccoli in the sense that holding a stem of Hydrangea consists of numerous flowerets. Hydrangeas bloom prolifically from early spring to late summer, thereby making them seasonal flowers.
Florists use hydrangeas in weddings and table centerpieces as one single stem already consumes a big space that look very lovely and light when used alone or with other flower fillers. These flower types also look beautiful when they dry.
When you plan to grow your own hydrangeas in the yard or garden, note that hydrangeas prefer the morning sun than the afternoon sun.

Using Snapdragons in flower arrangements adds a sensual twist since it is a flower often used to mean “desire.” These flower types are not often used for focal points in arrangements but are excellent fillers adding drama and appeal because of their unique shape and striking appearance, length, as well as color. Snapdragons come in a wide variety of colors, namely white, red, pink, purple, lavender, yellow and coral. The stems are bright green.

Snapdragons are available all year round and come in two sizes, namely the dwarf and the standard sizes. When surrounded by other flowers in an arrangement, Snapdragons resemble a dragon’s head when it is squeezed from both sides.
The botanical name of the Snapdragon is antirrhinum, which means “like a nose.” Its shape actually looks like a snout. Its actual origin is not traceable but records show evidence that these wild flowers come from Italy and Spain.
There is a legend behind the Snapdragons. It is superstitiously believed that keeping a Snapdragon hidden makes one appear more desirable.

Gladiolas are originally from South Africa. Very tall in height, these flowers stand up to as high as six feet. The flowers of the gladiola grow on a spike that sprouts out of a tubular structure. They are usually planted in the months of May and bloom in June and July. Hence, these flower types are very seasonal.

Stiff and upright, gladiolas look stunning in a vase arrangement without need for any other flower filler. They come in a variety of bright colors and white. When planted against a fence, they are very attractive, as they grow very tall. They are best planted in the back of a garden.

Gladiolas require a lot of sunlight and thrive well even when planted in a row, just like vegetables. They are best grown outdoors as they are very sturdy.
When used in centerpieces, gladiolas call for attention and exude magnificence and elegance.

From the soils of South America, the Birds of Paradise flower is a type of flower that exudes joy and beauty. Otherwise known as the crane flower, its physical appearance resembles that of a bird or crane in mid-flight, which explains why it is named as such. Generally, birds of paradise come in hues of deep orange to yellow. Its foliage is shaped like banana leaves.

Birds of paradise can grow as high as 10 meters but are on average are 3 to 4 meters in height. These crane flowers are one of the more popular exotic flowers that are sparingly used by commercial florists because it is quite difficult to handle and combine with more delicate flower types. However, they make a spectacular arrangement when used alone in a vase with its intense shades of orange.

Since it hails from South America, growing Birds of Paradise need to resemble its original environment. Temperatures must not go below 50 degrees Farenheit. Daily generous watering is required during spring and summer. They thrive well under a great amount of sunlight.

Tulip is a genus of about 150 species of bulbous flowering plants native to South Europe, North Africa, and Asia. Besides the natural species, many hybrid species and cultivars are grown in gardens, used as potted plants and for making cut flowers bouquet. Tulip is indigenous to Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey and other parts of Central Asia. The plants originate from mountainous areas with temperate climates and require a period of cool dormancy.

Tulip genus includes short low-growing plants and tall upright plants that grow from 10-70 cm tall. Tulips can grow even in snowy and cold wintry climates. Foliage is strap-shaped, waxy coated and light to medium green in color. Large flowers grow on scape or stems with typically one flower per stem. Many species have up to four flowers per stem. Cup-shaped flowers are colorful and attractive. Fruits are leathery textured capsules containing numerous flat disc-shaped seeds. Florists have cultivated thousands of varieties of tulips in a wide range of colors, shape and size. Tulips are most popular plants as ornamental and garden plants.

Leaves are bright green and clustered at the base. Leaves along the stem are small and clasping. The plant has been named tuberose due to its thick and bulb-like stem called tuber. Mexican single, Dwarf tuberose and Pearl Excelsior are the most popular varieties of tuberose.
