Tuberose is a perennial plant in the Amaryllis family. The plant is night blooming and is native to Mexico. Flowers of tuberose have sweet, exotic and floral scent. Tuberose is a prominent plant in Indian culture and mythology, where it is used extensively in wedding ceremonies, garlands, decoration and other rituals. In Iran, the plant is widely used n the manufacture of perfumes.

Tuberose plant grows in elongated spikes that grow up to 18 inches long. Clusters of waxy and funnel-shaped fragrant white flowers bloom from the bottom of the plant toward the top of the spike. Leaves are bright green and clustered at the base. Leaves along the stem are small and clasping. The plant has been named tuberose due to its thick and bulb-like stem called tuber. Mexican single, Dwarf tuberose and Pearl Excelsior are the most popular varieties of tuberose. In central Europe, North America and South Africa, the plant is grown for making perfumes and as toilet fragrance.
