Oleander is an evergreen shrub and a small plant, which is cultivated for its showy flowers and beautiful foliage. Oleander is one of the most poisonous plants and contains numerous toxic compounds, many of which could be deadly to human beings, especially to young children. Oleander is native to Morocco, Portugal, southeastern Asia, southern parts of China and the Mediterranean regions. The plants typically grow around dry streambeds. The plants grow best in warm subtropical regions.

Oleander plant grows to 2-6 meters tall with spreading erect branches. Leaves are in pairs or in whorls of three, thick or leathery and dark green. White, pink red or yellow flowers grow in clusters at the end of each branch. Flowers are often sweetly scented, but not always scented. Fruits are long narrow capsules that split open at maturity to release numerous seeds. Oleander is extensively used as an ornamental plant in parks, landscapes and along the roadsides. The plant can also be grown in cooler climates in greenhouses or indoors.
