Foxglove is a genus of about 20 species of herbaceous perennials, shrubs and biennials native to Europe, western and central Asia and northwestern Africa. The meaning of its scientific name implies ‘finger-like’ and refers to the ease with which it can be fitted over a fingertip. The entire plant is poisonous including the roots and seeds and its ingestion can cause nausea, vomiting, anorexia and diarrhea.
