Caper is a perennial spiny bush and also the pickled flower bud of this plant. Caper bears rounded and flesh leaves. Flowers of capers are big white or pinkish white. Caper pickled flower bud is used for seasoning in salads ad sauces. Native to Mediterranean regions, caper grows wild on walls or in rocky coastal areas. Caper plant is well known for the edible bud and fruits ? caper berry, which are used in pickles.

Caper can be grown easily from fresh seeds gathered from ripe fruit and planted into well-drained seed raising mix. Buds come from a low trailing shrub called caper bush that blooms early in September. Caper plants require regular watering in summer and very little water in winters. Despite being a deciduous plant, caper may stop growing in warmer climates. Caper plants require full sun during warm and temperate climates and need to be treated like cacti. Capers are common ingredients in various cuisines in the Mediterranean regions, most common being its use as salted and pickled capers in the seasoning or garnishing. Matured fruits of caper shrubs are prepared similarly and marketed as caper berries.
