Cyclamen is a genus of flowering plants that grows wild in the Mediterranean regions of Europe, Asia and Northern Africa where it blooms in early spring or late fall. At many places in England and United States, cyclamen have become very popular as potted plants because of its most attractive flowers that bloom indoors in winter and spring. Cyclamen typically grow in dry forest or scrub where they can be shaded from sunlights.

Cyclamen is an herbaceous perennial plant with a surface or underground tuber that produces leaves in late winter and flowers in the autumn. Each leaf or flower grows on its own stem. Leaves of cyclamen are rounded to triangular with a pale silvery horseshoe shaped mark around the middle of the leaf. Fruits are five chambered containing numerous sticseedsky seeds. Although the plants have been used as a powerful purgative and other medicinal uses but toxicity makes it a risky.

Crocus is a genus of perennial flowering plants native to a large area from coastal and sub-alpine regions central and southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, across Central Asia to Western China. Crocus plants grow from corms in a wide range of habitats including woodlands, shrubs and meadows. Its cup shaped and solitary flowers taper off into a narrow tube. Although lilac, mauve, white and yellow are predominant colors of flowers but several other colors are also found commonly. Grass like leaves show a white central stripe along the axis of the leaves.

Crocus belongs to iris family of flowering plants. Generally, the leaves are not cut until the plant dies naturally to ensure that more food is made and stored in the corms. Plants should be planted 3-4 inches deep in well-drained soils. In some of the places, crocuses grow and bloom for many years without replanting. Spice saffron is obtained from the stigmas of autumn and fall blooming species of Crocus.

Cowslip is a wild flower native to temperate regions of Northern Hemisphere. Cowslip is also known as Kingcup or Marsh Marigold. The plant often grows in wet and boggy places such as marshes, fens, ditches and wet woods. Cowslips bear large, buttercup like blossoms on hollow branching stems. Its leaves are kidney shaped. Most common name is marigold refers to its use in churches in medieval times during Easter as a tribute to the Virgin Mary. Marigold is a plant that is often mentioned in literatures including Shakespeare. All parts of cowslip plants are considered as irritant or poisonous. Skin rashes and dermatitis are often caused by excessive handling of the plants.

Coreopsis is a large group of plants related to sunflower family. Commonly known as tickseed, Coreopsis has about 35 species, out of which 28 species are native to North America and the rest come from South and Central America. Coreopsis flowers are usually yellow with a toothed tip. The plants have showy flowerhead with involucral bracts in two distinct series of eight each, outer being commonly connate at the base. Plants grow from 1.5 to 4 feet high. Yellow, red or maroon flowers look like daisies and grow on slender stems. Coreopsis is the Greek term meaning bedbug.

Majority of the Coreopsis plants are perennials that live for several years while few of the species are annuals and live only for one season. Annual Coreopsis is often called as calliospsis. Gardeners often cultivate both annuals and perennials varieties of Coreopsis. Mouse-ear Coreopsis, California tickseed, large flowered tickseed, giant Coreopsis, greater tickseed, Texas tickseed, pink tickseed, plains Coreopsis, tall tickseed, rock tickseed and moonbeam Coreopsis are few of the commonly known Coreopsis species.
