Dahlia is a flowering plant native to Mexico, Central America and northern South America. More than 35 species of dahlias exist and several hybrids are grown as garden plants. Initially, dahlias were cultivated by Aztecs (ethnic groups of central Mexico) for food, ceremonies and decorative purposes. Aztecs also used long woody stem of one of the species as pipes. Later on, the species were taken to Europe by Spaniards and soon it spread throughout the world in different climates.

Dahlias are many-branched plants that grow from underground tubers, with stalks ranging in height up to 20-30 feet, usual height being 1-8 feet. Dahlia flowers can be as small as 5 cm in diameter up to 30 cm (one foot), size of dinner plate. Flowers may grow as single or double with colors ranging from white to nearly in black and in all hues and tones except blue. Although a sunny location and light soil are ideally suitable for dahlia but they can also be grown in partial sunlight and in almost any soil that is not waterlogged. Tubers should be planted 2-3 feet apart and around four-inched deep when the soil is warm. Dahlia plants should be watered regularly especially while blossoming.

Canna or Canna lily is a genus of about twenty species of flowering plants. Plant families such as ginger and banana, among others, are the closest living relations to Canna. The species have large and attractive foliage. Horticulturists have turned Canna into large flowered, bright and gaudy garden plants. Canna is an agricultural plant, which is one of the largest starch sources in the world. Despite being a plant of the tropics, plant developers have cultivated Canna in temperate climates.

Canna can be developed in any countries and climate of the world as long as it gets around six hours sunlight during the summer season. Leaves are broad, flat and solid green, which grow out of a stem in a long narrow roll and then unfurl. Many horticulturists have developed brownish or maroon leaves. Canna flowers grow in clusters on stalks rising from the dark green leaves. Flowers typically are red, orange, yellow, or a combination of three colors. Canna is mostly used as a garden plant all over the world. A large numbers of ornamental and potted plants have also been developed. Canna seeds are used as beads in jewelry and as mobile elements in musical instruments.

Buckwheat is a crop plant. Despite the common name and the grain-like use of buckwheat, it is not a grass or cereal. It is often referred to as pseudo-cereal to emphasize that it is not related to wheat. The name buckwheat or beech wheat comes from its triangular seeds that resemble with the much larger seeds of the beechnut from the beech tree. Buckwheat was first cultivated in Southeast Asia from where it spread to Europe, Central Asia and Tibet.

Fruit of buckwheat is an achene, similar to sunflower seed with a single seed inside a hard outer hull. Starchy endosperm is white and makes up most or all of buckwheat flour. Coat of the seed is tan or green that darkens buckwheat flour. Hull is dark brown or black, some of which may be included in buckwheat flour as dark specks. Buckwheat noodles are used in plenty in Japan, Korea and Northern Italy. Buckwheat groats are often used in Western Asia and Eastern Europe. Buckwheat pancakes raised with yeast are also often eaten in several countries. Buckwheat is a good honey plant that produces a dark and mono floral honey. Buckwheat also finds its use in medicines.

Pictures of Flowers Broom Pictures and Broom Kind

Pictures of Flowers Broom Pictures and Broom Kind

Broom is a group of evergreen semi-evergreen and deciduous shrubs in the legume family. Brooms have dense, slender green stems and small leaves. Majority of the species have yellow flowers but few species may have white, orange, red, pink or purple flowers. Brooms and its species are natives of Europe, North Africa and Southwest Asia, greatest diversity being in the Mediterranean regions. Many of the species of grooms can adapt to stand-replacing fires that kill aboveground parts of the plants but create conditions for re-growth from the roots and also for germination of stored seeds in the soil.

Common broom is the most widespread species of broom, which is a native of northwestern Europe, where it can be found in dry and sandy soils. It has apparently leafless stems that are covered in profuse golden yellow flowers during spring and summer. In late summer, its pea-pod like seed bursts open with an audible pop, spreading the seed from the parent plant. It makes a shrub of about 1-3 meter tall. Brooms can tolerate and often thrive best in poor soils and growing conditions. Although the cultivation needs little care but they need good drainage, as it can perform poorly on wet soils. Brooms are widely used as garden and landscape ornamental plants. They are also used for wasteland reclamation and sand dune stabilizing.
