Gladiolas are originally from South Africa. Very tall in height, these flowers stand up to as high as six feet. The flowers of the gladiola grow on a spike that sprouts out of a tubular structure. From the soils of South America, the Birds of Paradise flower is a type of flower that exudes joy and beauty. Otherwise known as the crane flower, its physical appearance resembles that of a bird or crane in mid-flight, which explains why it is named as such.
